About Plug & Drive

The Short Version

Plug & Drive is an independent voice in the electric vehicle world. We publish honest, data-backed EV reviews and practical buyer's guides — with a special focus on the Chinese electric vehicles that are reshaping the global auto industry but don't always get a fair shake in Western media.

No press release rewrites. No fanboy hype. Just real-world driving and honest opinions.

Why This Site Exists

The electric vehicle revolution is happening faster than most English-language media can keep up with. Brands like BYD, MG, NIO, and XPeng are shipping genuinely impressive cars to markets around the world — but finding trustworthy, independent, English-language reviews of these vehicles is harder than it should be.

Mainstream outlets review Chinese EVs as curiosities. Translation blogs repackage press releases without ever driving the cars. Enthusiast forums are full of strong opinions but light on structured, buyer-focused information.

Plug & Drive exists to fill that gap.

What We Do

- Real-World Reviews: Every review is based on actually driving the car — on highways, in city traffic, in the rain, in the cold. We measure real range, not just WLTP numbers.

- Honest Comparisons: If a car is great, we'll celebrate it. If it has a flaw, we'll call it out — clearly and specifically. We don't have a favorite brand.

- Practical Buyer's Guides: From choosing your first EV to understanding warranties, incentives, and home charging, we cover what actually matters to buyers.

- Technology Explained: Blade Battery. LFP vs NMC. 800V architecture. DM-i hybrid. We explain EV technology in plain English, no engineering degree required.

Who Writes This?

Hi, I'm Alex Mercer.

I'm not a dealership. I'm not an automaker. I'm an EV enthusiast who believes the cars coming out of China right now are some of the most exciting vehicles on the planet — and English-speaking buyers deserve better information about them.

I write every review based on my own time behind the wheel. I measure range myself. I test the software, the charging speed, the boot space with an actual suitcase. I do this because I genuinely care about helping people make the right decision — and because I believe competition from Chinese brands will make every EV better, regardless of what badge is on the front.

[Optional: Add a brief personal note — what you drove before, what got you into EVs, what you do when you're not reviewing cars.]

Our Promise to Readers

1. We drive before we write. No review is published without real-world time in the car.

2. We disclose everything. Every review states clearly how we accessed the vehicle: press loan, rental, or personally owned.

3. We stay independent. We do not accept payment for reviews. Affiliate links are clearly disclosed.

4. We write for buyers, not algorithms. Honest, useful content comes first. SEO comes second.
